3 Quick and Delicious Skewer Recipes For The Grill


Steaks and burgers are good choices when you’re grilling for a small gathering. But they could get quite expensive for a bigger crowd. The solution? Opt for skewers! They are easy to prepare, you can cook them in large batches and they’re equally filling! Add some fruits and vegetables for a more colourful and nutritious dish!

Try these quick and delicious skewer recipes for the grill:

Honey Chipotle Rainbow Skewers

What you need:

  • 1/2 kilogram chicken breast, sliced into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 onion, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 red pepper, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, sliced
  • 1 bottle chipotle honey grill sauce
  • 2 teaspoons chipotle seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons garlic pepper seasoning
  • Salt to taste

Place chicken in a bowl and season with chipotle seasoning, garlic pepper seasoning and salt. Transfer to a large bowl with cover. Add onion, red and green peppers to the bowl then pour 1 cup honey grill sauce over chicken and vegetables. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Transfer contents of the bag into a bowl (discard marinade) and thread onto skewers. Cook on a pre-heated grill over medium-high heat for 15 minutes, turning every 4 minutes and brushing with chipotle honey grill sauce while grilling.

What you need:

  • 1 kilogram steak, sliced into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

Combine soy sauce, honey, garlic powder and ground ginger in a bowl to make the marinade. Pour marinade in a large re-sealable plastic bag. Add meat to the bag and shake to coat with marinade. Seal and refrigerate up to overnight. When ready, discard marinade and thread meat onto skewers. Cook on a pre-heated grill over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, to desired doneness.

Easy Salmon Skewers

What you need:

  • 1/2 kilogram salmon fillet, sliced into 1 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 orange bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced into
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/4 large onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • Salt and cracked black pepper

Thread salmon, bell peppers and onion onto skewers. Brush generously with olive oil then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook on a pre-heated grill over medium-high heat to desired doneness. Squeeze lemon over fish and vegetables right before serving.
